Report of the Pioneer Society of the State of Michigan Vol. XIV, 1890 Lansing, Michigan W. S. George & Co., State Printers & Binders Page 58 BAY COUNTY |
Mrs. Mary E. Tilton, wife of William M. Tilton, departed this life on January 19, 1889, at 5:30 p.m. at the family residence, corner of Fifth avenue and Adams street, Bay City, aged sixty-three years. For something like a year and a half past the venerable lady, whose name has brought good cheer to many a family in dispair in Bay City during the past quarter of a century, has been suffering with consumption. |
She leaves to mourn her demise a husband and
five children. Mrs. Mary E. Tilton was born at St. John, N. B., and was united in marriage to William M. Tilton some forty-three years ago. The young couple moved to Bay City in 1864, when it was nothing but a hamlet, and together watched the rapid growth of the town. |
