Ward School Districts

     School districts are arranged for the convenience of scholars and are independent of ward lines.   Their boundaries are located midway between adjoining school buildings or as near thereto as accommodations permit.

THE WOODSIDE SCHOOL..
Woodside Avenue, near Trumbull Street.

The Woodside School District consists of territory east and north of a line drawn from the Saginaw      
river south on the center of Belina and Johnson streets to the M.C.R.R. and thence east to the city limits.              

THE SHERMAN SCHOOL..
Sherman Street and Woodside Avenue

     The Sherman School District has Third Street for its southern boundary as far east as Sherman street thence north to M. C. R. R. and east on same.   Scholars in previous district are promoted to this school.

THE DOLSEN SCHOOL
Sherman, Sheridan, Third and Fourth Streets..

     The Dolsen School District is bounded by the following lines: Third street, including both sides, from Saginaw river to Sherman street, north to M. C. R. R., east to Johnson street, south to Fifth avenue, west to McClellan street, south to Seventh street and west to Saginaw river.  Scholars are received by promotion from the Sherman school and, if north of Seventh street, from the Washington school.

THE FARRAGUT SCHOOL
Grant, Farragut, Ninth and Tenth Streets.

     The Farragut School District has Seventh street for its northern boundary, Lincoln avenue for its eastern and for its southern boundary the center of Fourteenth street west to F. & P. M. R. R.; north to Columbus avenue and thence west to the Saginaw river.  It receives scholars by promotion from the Washington school, if south of Seventh street, from Lincoln school if both east of South Van Buren and north of Sixteenth street and from Garfield school if north of Nineteenth street.

THE WASHINGTON SCHOOL..
Eighth, Seventh, Ames and Gates Streets.

     The Washington School District lies east of the Dolsen and Farragut School Districts between the M. C. R. R. on the north and Fourteenth street on the south.

THE LINCOLN SCHOOL..
South Lincoln, Sheridan, Twentieth and Twenty-first.

     The Lincoln School District has Fourteenth street for its northern boundary; Madison avenue, excluding both sides, for its western and Twenty-sixth street for its southern boundary.   Its scholars are promoted to the Garfield School unless living both east of S. Van Buren and north of Sixteenth street, in which case they go to the Farragut school.

THE BOWERY SCHOOL..
Garfield Avenue and Eighteenth Street.

 The Bowery School District lies south of Farragut School District, west of Madison avenue and north of Nineteenth street.   Its scholars are promoted to the Garfield School.                                                              

THE GARFIELD SCHOOL..
Twenty-second, Twenty-first, Fraser and Fitzhugh Streets.

     The Garfield Scholl District extends from Nineteenth to Twenty-fourth street and from the Saginaw river to and including both sides of Madison avenue.  Scholars east of Williams and north of Twenty-fifth street or east of Michigan avenue and north of Twenty-sixth street may also attend this school.   Scholars north of Nineteenth street are promoted to Farragut school; those south, to Fremont school.

THE FREMONT SCHOOL
Broadway, Marsac, Fremont and Twenty-ninth.

      The Fremont School District lies south of the Garfield and Lincoln School Districts and north of Thirty-fourth street.

THE WHITTIER SCHOOL..
Thirty-eighth and Broadway.

     The Whittier School District consists of all the territory in the city limits lying south of the center of Thirty-fourth street.
